What is Business Coaching

Most people are familiar with personal coaching working with an individual to identify their innate strengths, help them to find situations and opportunities where they can succeed, and assist them in creating an action plan to move them from where they are to where they want to be.

The same techniques can be applied to business. By 'business coaching,' I'm referring to coaching an individual or team within a business.

Individual Coaching

Whether you're a solo entrepreneur, small business owner, or an executive, you will benefit from individual business coaching, which is similar to my personal coaching. As an executive, owner, or sole practitioner, your personality is closely entwined with your business or business unit. This means that we can work on success in your personal life and see results in your business life -- or vice-versa.

The goal of individual business coaching is to assess who you are as a person, and how you fit into your current work or business situation.

It's said that 70% of employed people dislike their work. I find that statistic sad. Not every aspect of work can be fun, but you can find and pursue a career in an area that you love and that supports the values you hold.

As an entrepreneur, small business owner, or executive, you are to a great extent a business leader. Leadership can be lonely and unpredictable. It can also, however, be exhilarating and freeing in ways that tap into your personal power.

By assessing your personality, goals, and values, we will work together to define your working style, your style of communications, and the elements of business that empower you.

Next, we will compare those personality traits and values to the work you're currently doing. You may not be doing work you're ideally suited for. Don't worry! That doesn't mean you have to leave your job or shut down your business! I can show you how you may be able to adjust your business focus or the time you spend on certain tasks at work to increase your enjoyment and productivity.

Team Coaching

Every business is made up of one or more teams. Teams are vital in your business to have the right people working on the right tasks in harmony. A team working well together is much more than the sum of its parts.

The principles of coaching a team are similar to coaching an individual: identifying the team's current challenges and opportunities, provide a fresh perspective as an outsider as to how the team can bond and grow, and assist the team in achieving its best outcomes through ongoing coaching, mentoring, and measuring results.

In addition, teams involve interpersonal dynamics that can be highly-charged between team members in both positive and negative ways. Who we are and how we see the world helps to determine how we interact with others in other team. I can resolve conflicts, minimize bottlenecks, and eliminate misunderstandings by helping the team to see each person's role, talents, and style of communication.
